In March 1958 Mae made her TV debut when she appeared with Rock Hudson on the telecast of the Oscars.  They sang “Baby It's Cold Outside”. Mae wore one of her black spangled, white fox-trimmed, Vegas gowns with a fabulous white feather head dress.  The number was a hoot and it stopped the show.
The routine was rehearsed at the Ravenswood.  Hudson adored Mae and later recalled that they spent most of the time just having a laugh.
On the night, Mae is in full command and is clearly seen steering young Rock through his paces. Mae and Rock have a ball, so does the audience, and they steal the show. At the end of the number Mae can't help herself - she takes Rock's face in her hands and plants a real smacker full on his lips. Well, wouldn't you?
